Magic reading!
Harry Potter is a must! Plus, have fun combining science & chemistry concepts into the reading
Magic wands!
Go on a walk and collect sticks, and then add embellishments like feathers & paintTempera or acrylic paints work great Painting on new surfaces is always exciting!Make a construction paper wizard or witch hat, too!We taped two pieces of black paper together, added sparkly stickers and marker, and cut to get the cone shape for the hat.Add some superhero capes (you can also tie towels loosely around necks) and ABRA-CADABRA! Magician costumes!
Mystery magic potion chemistry!
Using household items like crushed up pretzels, glitter & salt, rename items with fun titles like “crushed dragon bones” and “unicorn horn powder” and let your little magicians combine and create! What kind of potions will they create?Mixing up a wizard’s brewI love how fun and open-ended this activity is, even if it gets a little messy.
Magical snacks!
Our version of Lucky Charms- “Magic Charms!” Just add marshmallows to whatever cereals you have in the cupboard 😆Magic Bars! Check out my Magic Pinterest board for the recipe.
Magic watercolor resists!
Need: paper (watercolor paper is best), watercolor paint, water, paint brushes & white crayon or oil pastelCreate designs on white paper using white crayon or oil pastelA great opportunity to explore abstract lines, shapes & patterns with no rules! (Tip: if white is too hard to see, use gray)One of my favorite art supplies is liquid watercolor!Create a “wash” (add water to paint and cover entire paper) across the artwork using broad brush strokes Make sure to cover the whole paper with paintUse a variety of paint colors and watch the designs magically appear! This effect happens because the wax or oil in the crayon/pastel RESISTS the watery paint!
